Plumeria Paintings by Marcia

Singapore Obtusa Plumerias Continued

by Marcia Minnichhofer on 10/25/16

I went darker with the background on the upper right and behind the flowers next to those leaves. I will push them further back after all of that background is in. The background leaves are actually not as dark as you see in this photo.

Well, perhaps I will wait on a print. You sign those right?

Originals are signed on the painting with archival black ink. (For the oil paintings, I use oil paint for the signature.) Limited edition giclee prints are on thick archival paper with archival inks. A professional photographer takes a photo and prints me a proof and we color match with the original. He then prints in the size I want and I sign in pencil the name of the painting, the number in the limited edition (usually 150) and then I sign my name also in pencil. All of this writing is in the white border just below the print of the painting. So the first print would be numbered 1/150 for example. My initial cost is to pay the photographer for taking the photo and then for the giclee. After that, my cost is just the cost of having him print the giclee. The 8x11 and 5x7 prints are not numbered and are signed on the painting with black or silver fade resistant ink. I usually paint on 300# watercolor paper which has to be shipped flat. The giclees are on paper that is not as thick and can be rolled up and mailed in a special thick 5-inch diameter tubes.
